Sister Gloria School is a K-4 to 12 school situated just inside the Wood Buffalo Provincial Park.  The school has a staff of 41 professional staff dedicated and passionate about what they do.

Culture

We have two Cree teachers who are invaluable to our school and community. Not only do they instruct the students in the Cree language but put on various activities throughout the year to keep the culture alive and well within our school and community.  In addition, we have an excellent outdoor education program that works hand in hand with our Cree teachers to expand on the Cree teachings.

Programs

Sister Gloria offers a variety of programs to build on the classroom curricular programs such as Jolly Phonics and numerous literacy programs.  In grades 4-9 programs to assist students’ development are System 44 and Read 180, which are designed to improve their reading.

All the students in K-9 have available to them Mathletics which helps build students numeracy skills.  We also use a program called Second Step which helps students develop socially and emotionally.  This program also deals with bullying.

New Programs

This year we have a new program for our students Industrial Arts and Small Engine Repair.  These hands-on programs will give the students some everyday life skills and perhaps lead students to look for career’s in this area.

We also have a new very well-equipped exercise room for our physical education program and our various exercise clubs running after school hours.

Student Support

In addition, we have an In school Counselor, Special Education teacher and a Career Counselor that offer support and guidance to our students.

Extra-Curricular

At Sister Gloria we believe in offering our students a strong extracurricular program. From sports, exercise and various clubs we offer something for everyone.  All students are encouraged to play or become involved.

Modernization

Our school is coming to the end of a two-year renovation project and our technology is now among the best in the province.

Our new cafeteria/lunchroom offers the students a hot breakfast and lunch program.

As always, our school is open to the community and it is used almost every night of the week.

We look forward to the future here at Sister Gloria and welcome all new students and families to join our school community.

We are very proud of our students and our staff.

Feel free to drop in any time.
