The long-term goal of the MCH Program is to support pregnant women and families with infants and young children who live on reserve, to reach their fullest developmental and lifetime potential. The MCH program aims for contact with all pregnant women and new parents, with long term home visiting for those families who require additional supports.

Services through the MCH program include reproductive health, screening and assessment of pregnant women and new parents to assess family needs as well as home visiting to provide follow-up, referrals, and case management as required. Specifically, at Little Red River Cree Nation we will support all pregnant women, fathers, new parents and parents with children 6 years old and under, living on the Little Red River Cree Nation (LRRCN) reserve to achieve their developmental and holistic life goals while promoting LRRCN culture, values and language.

The program will draw from existing community strengths and other health programs such as Elders, Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program, nursing, Home and Community Care, oral health, and education. We will use will use an evidence based approach to deliver and evaluate components. Services specific to the MCH program include reproductive health, needs assessment and screening of pregnant women and new parents, home visiting, referrals, education and case management. Another goal is to integrate services within other Health programs (CHRs NNADAP, Mental Health Counsellors and others) Child Welfare – Mamawi Awasis Society, FASD Society, Employment Facilitators, Day Care, Head Start, School)
